I did not want to make it more than obvious that the occupants of this place have experienced only 2 autumns. While doing it up I had to keep in mind that the décor has to appeal to both the toddlers and their teachers. For the toddlers it is the first place they are going out to from their homes so this must appeal to them on a daily basis. For the teachers it should look like a friendly place they will be spending a lot of time.
For the flooring I used anti skid tiles. Display boards run all along the walls for the children to showcase their masterstrokes. Keeping their vertical limits in mind the height of the boards is kept at their eye level so that they can admire their own art attack. The color combination used is a bright orange and a pale cream. I deliberately used a bright and mute combination of hues.Bricks! Aha... I don’t know why a brick wall always reminds me of my own school. I used artificial brick fibre boards to give the effect of a brick wall, a tribute to my nostalgia. My reward – well one of the teachers came up to me and said, ‘you make me feel like coming to work on Sundays too’.
